“Others Receiving Votes”

The Biscuit

I was checking out the rankings, and it struck me how odd this year is compared to what we came to ‘know’ when we were at ND.  We came to ‘know’ that Florida State and Miami were unstoppable powerhouses, we came to ‘know’ that certain teams were horrid and a walk in the park, and we came to ‘know’ that we should be in the upper echelon of college football, but we weren’t.  Okay, there shouldn’t be quotes around that last know.  We did know that.

But checking out the latest polls and particularly the “Others Receiving Votes” tells us just how much has changed in the world of college football that we love so much:

OTHERS RECEIVING VOTES  Florida State 74, Wisconsin 58, Penn State 27, Pittsburgh 21, Washington 13, Texas A&M 11, Miami (FL) 8, Texas Tech 7, UCLA 6, Brigham Young 5, Wake Forest 3, North Carolina State 3, South Carolina 3.
Florida State, Penn State and Miami are all out of the Top 25.  What’s crazier still is that Rutgers is IN the Top 25, and undefeated…and, Wake Forest is #36!  If they hadn’t choked against Clemson, they’d be Top 25 as well.

This is why I love college football - fortunes ebb and flow, things change. And most importantly, our squad is back in the Top 10 where it belongs and all the ND haters of the world were proved wrong - ND football is not dead and gone, a thing of the past.

It just took a nap, and had a bad dream called Davingham.
