Penn State Fans: The True (and sad) Story
This is the headline to a recent column in the Penn State student newspaper:
Season not over with loss to Irish
For a second there, I thought it was next week’s paper, with the inevitable outcome highlighted in the headline, published early. But actually, it’s a current article in their STUDENT NEWSPAPER proclaiming that everything will be okay if/when PSU loses to the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame tomorrow.
This, my friends, is the difference between the two schools’ fans. PSU student fans are already talking about how it will still be a good season if they lose, when all we can think about is CRUSHING PENN STATE. WIN WIN WIN, and GOOOOOOOOO IRISH!!!
He then goes on to talk about how the conference games against Michigan and OSU will be more important for the team’s year (everyone say hello to Captain Obvious), and talks about respect, blah blah blah. I am saddened by his lack of pride, but not surprised. I’d prefer the obnoxious frat boys and their absurd over-confidence to this kind of self-pity. Give me the challenge, give me the shit-talking, but please don’t give me this.
I am so glad I didn’t follow all of my high school friends to Penn State. Cuz then I’d have to be embarrassed to be a fan of my football program, or at the least be embarrassed that all the fans around me suck.
The lame-ass article is available here:
